Question by Dude32: My laptop says, “”Warning: A problem with the cooling system has been detected. Please turn off the computer..?
it says, “”Warning: A problem with the cooling system has been detected.
Please turn off the computer
immediately, and return it for service.”

I have a new(ish) Toshiba laptop. It’s almost 3 months old. I got this message on the first day I bought the laptop and I just got it again now… but now the message is gone. I’m noticing a pattern, I ONLY get this message when I try to turn on my laptop when my battery is near being dead, I never get this message once my battery is fully charged again. Why do you think this could be?

Best answer:

Answer by Jake
Perhaps its covered by your lap or the fan which cools the laptop down; on the side is blocked by dust or such or even a pillow depending on how you use your laptop for comfort use.

Go to the toshiba website and call there helpline; maybe they could help you or even swap your laptop for a new one.

Question by derek h: Question for all the Computer Experts out there (or anybody really)?
I have a small issue with my Internet Wireless connection on my laptop at work (It works with no problems on wireless at home). Once “troubleshooting” on the “Windows Network Diagnostics” has been completed – after trying to connect up – it says “it was unable to fix all of the issues found” and goes onto say: “Problems found: Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not responding.”

Anybody have a similar experience or perhaps knows the solution to my problem? All advice greatly appreciated as it had found the “problem” but offers no solution.
My colleague’s computer works just fine so it is not the router.

Antivirus: AVG vs Spysweeper: Compare and Contrast?

Question by fjpoblam: Antivirus: AVG vs Spysweeper: compare and contrast?
I have several, you might say many, pieces of malware protection. I will keep them all. Finally, I want to include either AVG (Soho) or SpySweeper (they won’t live together – one demands removal of the other!) If anyone out there has experience with *BOTH* I would appreciate hearing a comparison.
P.S. I too have FF2 and IE7 and up-to-date OS; Spysweeper griped that (paid-for) AVG was in-place (or at least enabled) when I tried to install it…
PPS and (if you look at Spysweeper website you may confirm) Spysweeper website is available with antivirus computer repair component…

Best answer:

Answer by Heh?
Spysweeper: Very good, removes a LOT of malware and has many other features that (while sometimes annoying) alert you whenever omething important to your PC happens. Some PCs only need this program… others do not.

AVG Antispyware: Almost as good at overall removal as Spysweeper. If you download the 30 day trial it becomes free with the main scanner and updater working but automatic protection and updating disabled.

Both are very good. Spysweeper is better if you’re willing to pay for the program. AVG is better if you’re not.

The famous ping pong ball that used to jump around your screen between your documents and spread sheets was funny for a little bit but got to be annoying after a while. Then malicious viruses were developed in order to delete documents and corrupt operating systems sectors and not allow the computer to be functional. People then had to start using antivirus removal software. The response from the software developers was to increase the software security in order to create a shield around the viruses. This was in order to avoid any virus infections and having the user do any type of computer repair virus removal. As the software manufactures increase their software security in the form of “security updates”, viruses adapt and become more sophisticated in order to penetrate the software security. The virus can infiltrate in the form of an email, a hacked website or by phishing. A lot of times store bought software will not remove the virus due to the complex coding viruses have. On the down side, you will only find this out after you spent a few hundred dollars on software that does not work. Not to mention the countless hours of installing, running the software and then going back to the store and not being able to return the software since it has already been opened.
